KRB BUCK POLE at Miller's Produce?

So not only will you smell the asphalt plant and the dump when you first cross the bridge in Manistee, but now you will be able to see the "Red Neck" collection of dead dear culled from this years bow and firearm deer season. This will be true if on Tuesday night (Oct 6th), the City Council approves the Miller's Produce" request to erect a "Buck Pole" by their store on the highway. I think a platform below the buck pole with road kill collections on it would be a great added feature, and you cou… Continue

jeniffer An Appealing Thesis for Teens: Facebook’s TOS

These days, parents know their children better not by sitting in the dinner table but by looking them up in one of the most prominent social networking sites, Facebook. This site is so powerful that anything written about it, including a thesis, will be completely devoured by the unpredictable teen and tween generations. Facebook sprung into being courtesy of a former Ivy League student, Mark Zuckenberg in February 2004. Initially, the site was only… Continue

ginger A Day of Thanksgiving and Melancholy

The morning breeze welcomes my day. It’s another celebration of God’s greatest gift to me, my life. I am now twenty-two years older. Just like what I usually do, I gave thanks to Him through a simple prayer. After praying, I journalized and reminisced how my life went through for the past twenty-two years. I couldn’t imagine how God blessed me with so many things. I can’t imagine how in such an early age I was able to grab great opportunities. For the past year for instance, I was able to win… Continue

Amanda Sixx A.M.

I just want to share my experience and opinion about Sixx A.M. They are a new rock band and are awesome. James Michael has an amazing voice, DJ Ashba is an incredible guitarist and to pair them up with Nikki Sixx makes for one amazing group. My husband and I recently went to Cruefest in Detroit to see Motley Crue, and I gotta tell ya Sixx A.M. was the best band out of the five that were there. James Michael even walked by us a few times and stopped to say hi and he shook my husbands hand. They t… Continue

Shoreline Media Want to host a webcam?

We have a webcam that we'd like to install in the Manistee area. You need to have Charter internet, won't work with Verizon, sorry. And a decent view you can share, preferably a nice lake view, anything on the river would be great. The camera is very small, sits on a window ledge quite nicely and is wireless. We have a wireless router we can supply. Email me at Manistee Talks if you're interested. Continue

Shoreline Media How fired up are you about the pool?

I remember when I first moved to Manistee after graduating from CMU in 1996. There was talk of a pool then, thanks to the incredible generosity of the Paine family, the pool will soon (in a relative way) be a reality. Very cool. Share your thoughts of how the pool might impact the community. Continue

Miracle Max So, what's with the smell?

The first night I spent in Manistee was at the Lakeshore Inn, down at the First Avenue beach. My wife and I had purchased a house a year before, and I had come to see it for the first time. When I got up in the morning and went into the bathroom, I was hammered by a smell that made me wonder, geez, who stunk up the place. Turns out that the smell is part of the Manistee ambiance. It comes and goes, but has been a regular feature of Manistee's olfactory life for years. There are a lot of theori… Continue
