yeah, like to see the pictures. Hey - Hats Off to Uncle Dale at Walter's Fisheries. He made me a great deal and offered to send on my UPS account. I'll have 4 lbs of Chubs next Monday or Tuesday :-) My Dad is excited. When it was so cold, it was 26…
Walter's will ship but it costs $100 to ship 5 lbs = $75 worth of Chubs. UPS is just greedy. I'm in the freight business and at $20. per pound I could retire. They suggested I have a "friend" in Ludington buy them and ship them to me. Oh, well.... w…
That's some nice stuff, right there ^^^
I can only summize that I am in the ocean shipping business due to growing up in Manistee, living on the shoreline at the river / lake, fishing all day long, being close to all the boats and lakers. I can rem…
OH BOY - CHUBS.
I wonder if they'd Fed Ex some to me. ( I'm transplanted in Houston) I'm going to give them a call. I can remember going to buy them with my Father. He's down here, doing fine, 84 yr old WWII vet. I think I'll suprise him with some.…
i used to walk right along their facility and fish growing up as a small boy. almost next door was a guy that made some great smoked chubs... yum.
is he still there ? anyone want to send me some ? :-) $$$ he was an old guy then, so i doubt he's aro…
I really like the pan / tilt / zoom @ LDN. I can see one that would allow you to view both pier / light houses in the same frame, the sunsets and could pan to get Coast Guard station, entrance to river, and a great shot of any freighters moving in /…
Thanks to Homer Ramsdell for doing the below research. Its a good start.... Shorline - Thoughts ?
Been thinking about the camera and along the beach the best spots are owned by the City of Manistee. The Coast Guard Station 231/723-7412 might be ano…
No doubt, new this asking the question. To do it right, would have to dry dock. Either way, even waterline up, big bucks.
But surely, the ones that made the deal knew this going in. So, is their some foundation set up, or a plan, or grants to be ob…
Homer Ramsdell and I are communicating on this a little. And, I'm on the LDN forum under the same name, which I enjoy very much. I am willing to donate the hardware for this, as I wrote Homer. He was kind enough, last year, to go by my old house and…
We've got a whole list on the LDN site. We'd love to put a camera up in Manistee someday, just need someone with Charter internet access and a view they'd like to share. Drop us a line.

Fyi, and you might know already, Lud. has two harborcams, one is on the LDN site at Snyders Shoreline resort, the other is at Harbor View Marina, both are excellent incl. Hamilin's. There must be others at varying ports along W. Mich., would be inte…
I spend a little time on Ludginton's forum and really like the cameras. Their harbor cam, and Hamlin lake. Being able to watch the live sunsets is really nice being down here in Houston.
Manistee is ideal with 2 lighthouses, the river, the lift bri…
born in Manistee 1961. attended Guardian Angels.
My Father, Dr. Casey E. Westell, Jr. was GM down at the Filer City pulp mill until he was transferred to their corporate Tenneco down here in Houston in late 1971. Couldn't have had a better place to grow up. Our family still talks to several people there as my brother and sisters went to MCC. Spent whole days on the golf course, dunes, beaches. We lived at 555 Cherry Rd. I've read some newspapers on line in the area and try to keep up with the times.

Good morning.
I will take the picture this afternoon. Would you like me to send it to you by email or just post it in my pictures? If by email send me your address.
BTW I played in the mansion when I was a child. Bill Schnorbach (sp) was the plant manager then and he had a daughter my age. That probably was the late 50's or early 60's. Bill then went to the a plant around Augusta.
Erv Kowalski is still living in the mansion.
Did anyone take the picture for you. If not I live just a couple of blocks away, 539 Eighth Street, and will take the picture for you. You can comment back or email me hramsdell@hotmail.com.
