The S.S. City of Milwaukee - National Historic Landmark, built in 1930 and launched in 1931, is the last surviving example of a traditional Great Lakes carferry. Like many of its predecessors, the S.S. City of Milwaukee hauled boxcars across Lake Michigan. Today, it's a museum ship with historical displays, offering guided tours, and facility rental for special events. In October, the carferry is transformed into "Manistee's Ghost Ship."
