Manistee Talks

Manistee, Michigan - The Victorian Port City

I have a question for all of you. Many business in Manistee (Restaurants, Shop, Retail, Movie theaters) have close or gone out of business. The question is: What business do you miss the most and why?

I miss two in particular. The first is 440 West Restaurant. The Bauman family did a tremendous job of running it and I was saddened to hear of Mike's passing. The new place just doesn't live up to what the Bauman's did IMO. The other place I miss is the Vogue Theatre. I know it had been running as recently as last year but for whatever reason the people running it just couldn't make it work. Manistee needs a theatre of its own so people don't have to go all the way to Ludington to see a movie.

I agree about 440 West...It was such a friendly restaurant. Mike & Julie knew all their customers by name and treated everyone like a friend.
I miss The Quilted Heart for its endless selection of quilt fabrics.
My husband and I both miss The Vogue.
